The CSRNO solid waste department would like to inform residents that following the establishment of the new regional curbside recycling program which started in January, it was agreed that there would be a transition period and the recycling depots would remain in function for a certain period. That said, this period is drawing to a close, so we can confirm that the large blue bins located in the communities will be eliminated by the end of June.
***Please note that following the temporary interruption of recycling throughout the Northwest, CSRNO is not currently collecting community depots until the opening of the Atelier des Copains regional sorting center.
Please note that municipalities and Local Services are responsible for the collection schedules along with its contract for waste and recycling; the CSRNO is still awaiting confirmation of the recycling collection schedules from the Local Services for residents of Local Service Districts (LSDs). The CSRNO is responsible for coordinating the transportation of materials recovered from the transfer station at the Montagne-de-la-Croix site in Rivière-Verte to the Atelier des Copainsregional sorting center.
Hi, I live in Drummond LSD. There have not been any curbside collections here, that I know of. The community depots have been removed and we have nowhere to take our recyclables.
Can someone kindly advise what is happening? I don’t want to have to put recyclables in the trash.
Albert
Hi Albert! The Board of Directors at Northwest Regional Commission made the decision to go with the curbside recycling program in 2018. As the new regional program would start in Januaray 2020, it was accepted that the community depots would stay in place for a 6 months period, for a transition. We announced in May that the depots would be removed in June. As of January 2020, all municipalities have started curbside recycling, the only exception in for the LSDs. Municipalities and Local Services (which are providing services for the LSDs) are responsible for the waste and recycling collections schedule. To this day, we have not received any confirmation from the Local Services regarding the recycling collections. We are in constant communication with them and the issue has been addressed to the Minister of Environment. Residents can mention their concerns to the Local Services regional office at 735-2763.
