Regional economic development is part of the expanded mandate of the Regional Service Commissions, following local governance reform, in partnership with Opportunities New Brunswick and Work NB.
The Northwest Regional Service Commission collaborates with local governments, business stakeholders, and government agencies to:
- Provide strategic guidance for regional economic growth
- Support communities ready to welcome investment
- Foster a healthy business environment
- Support workforce development and growth, including the retention of newcomers
Regional Economic Development Committee (REDC)
The REDC brings together labor market stakeholders with shared interests regarding a strategic regional labor market issue or a challenge where they can have a greater impact collectively than individually. The REDC aims to develop a regional workforce growth strategy, including targets and measures to track the progress and impact of identified initiatives. This includes avoiding duplication, identifying regional needs, and maximizing regional efforts.
