A used tires recycling program, called The NB’s Tire Stewardship Program (TSP), has been in operation in New Brunswick since 1996. This program is entirely financed by the tire purchasers. They may return their scrap tires (no more than 5 at a time) to any retail tire outlet in New Brunswick (there are more than 700), during regular business hours.
Drop-off is free of charge no matter where the tires were purchased. However, commercial operators or anyone who wants to get rid of a large number of tires should contact the TSP office directly at 1-888-322-8473.
Tires collected will be sent to the TRACC (Tire Recycling Atlantic Canada Corporation) in Minto NB to be processed in value added products, such as:
- Livestock mattresses
- Composite roofing shingles
- Playground surfaces
- Landscaping materials
- Anti-fatigue mats
For full details on the TRACC company, please consult their Web site: www.tracc.ca
The NWRSC Solid Waste Service collects tires that are dropped-off directly at the landfill site in Rivière-Verte. It does not pick up scrap tires in private homes.
For any questions on tire recycling in New Brunswick, please contact the TSP office directly at 1-888-322-8473.
