A workshop leader will be pleased to offer an environmental workshop (of your choice) to your students in your own classroom.
The Northwest Regional Service Commission (NWRSC) is responsible for all travel expenses and the workshop itself is free of charge.

Please Be Aware of the Following Details…
Before contacting the NWRSC for a workshop in your classroom:
- Please call at least one week ahead of time to make sure we are available;
- All workshops are free of charge. Expenses are fully covered by the NWRSC;
- Please make a preselection of one or more workshops that interest you according to your classroom level (see list below). If you wish, the workshop leader can guide you as to the choice of a workshop that best suits you.
- During the workshop, we ask that the teacher or other responsible adult be present at all times to ensure an adequate supervision;
Workshops Offered by the NWRSC Solid Waste Service
COMPOSTING RECIPE
Targeted levels: Grade 6 to Grade 12
Approximate length: 45 – 60 minutes
The students will be iniated to this type of recycling called composting. Following this presentation, classrooms or students who wish to introduce a composting method at school or at home will have the knowledge to do so.
LEARN HOW TO DO VERMICOMPOSTING
Targeted levels: Kindergarden to Grade 12
Approximate length: 60 minutes
During this workshop, the students learn how to recover their fruit and vegetable wastes with the help of little redworms. They will also have the opportunity to live a unique experience by taking the worms in their hands. Vermicomposting (or worm composting) is a composting technique that is performed indoors. Note: Students may obtain a vermicomposting bin for their classroom. Certain conditions apply; please contact us for all details.
