The NWRSC issues a range of permits in addition to those from the various public agencies governing the region. Permits issued by the Commission do not release owners or contractors from their obligation to obtain all other necessary permits from other parties (Department of Health, Department of Transportation, Department of Environment, etc.). The NWRSC charges fees for certain services that it provides. It is important to confirm and specify for which municipality or local service district you are applying, as these fees may vary.
We recommend contacting the NWRSC to confirm whether your particular project requires a permit. Certain exemptions are in place in some villages. Please contact a Commission inspector or officer to determine whether or not a permit is required.
Fees are also applicable to other forms of development not involving construction. Examples include:
- Implementing a new use (new dwelling, new business, etc.)
- Installing a prefabricated shed
- Hanging a sign
- Creating a parking area
- Installing a new roof
